New Women’s Health Service starts Spring 2010 (posted 18th January 2010)

Approximately 1 in 4 women experience women’s health problems at some point in their lifetime, with a wide range of severity and nature, across a broad age range. A large number of women are affected but may be too embarrassed to talk openly about their problem and so it often goes unreported. It can create enormous stress and may impact on a woman’s quality of life as well as her health and wellbeing. Yet often it just takes some specialist advice and training to resolve the problem.

Meadowhead Physiotherapy are pleased to announce the start of a new Women’s Health Service, aimed at helping women suffering from urinary and pelvic floor problems. Vicky Keates MCSP, a Chartered Physiotherapist and Women’s Health Specialist joins the team this month. For more information about this new service and how it could help you, please visit our Women’s Health page.

Hallam FM Caravan visits Meadowhead Physiotherapy (posted 9th September 2009)

It’s tatty, it’s smelly, it’s the Hallam FM 80’s caravan! The Big John at Breakfast Show has put the old Hallam FM caravan back into service and today saw the show broadcast from the clinic driveway.
Big John, Michelle and Producer James (not to mention Hallamster) were all in attendance, although Hallamster went all camera shy when we took the photo.
It was great fun and thanks to everyone involved for making it a success, particularly those who were up at 4.30 am to setup the caravan!

Jenny Manners appointed to the board of the AACP (posted 18th July 2009)

Jenny has always had a special interest in acupuncture and its use in managing pain. Jenny has been playing an increasing role in the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and it seemed a natural progression to become a member of the board when this was offered. This is an unpaid role, but Jenny is committed to helping shape the future of the association in these challenging times.

Race for Life 2009 (posted 12th July 2009)

It was hard work but I made it! I decided to run the 5k Race of Life in Chesterfield on Sunday 12th July and had been in training for a couple of months now.
Race for Life raises money for Cancer Research UK. I ran this last year too, but since then my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, so this year there was added incentive to do well.
On the day, the weather was fine and I finished the course in 27 minutes which I was really pleased with. More to the point, I managed to exceed my target of raising £200.
Many thanks to all those that sponsored me.
